Obituary of Catherine J. Astulfi

Catherine J. Astulfi, 92 of W. Yarmouth, MA formerly of Burlington, MA passed away on Tuesday November 21* 2023 at Broad Reach Health Care/Liberty Commons in Chatham, MA after succumbing to age related health issues.

Kay was born in Boston and grew up in Medford, MA. A daughter of the late Frances (Baglione) and Vincent Pantano. She is survived by her brother Philip Pantano of Venice, FL, and her sister Mary Kiley of Burington, MA.

In 1951, Catherine (Kay) graduated from Wilfred Academy School of Beauty in Boston. While in school and throughout her career she forged many friendships that lasted a lifetime. She became a licensed beautician and worked at Jordan Marsh, Chandler's and several other salons on Newbury Street. Her loyal clientele was attributed to her welcoming personality, professionalism, and classic style. Her "must have" ruby red lipstick made a striking contrast with her dark brunette hair and olive skin. Even at 92, she was a natural beauty.

Kay was a feisty, spirited hot-blooded Sicilian who oddly loved cold weather. Festive parades, Broadway shows and the glitzy energy of big cities made her smile like a kid at Christmas.However, her favorite place in the world was our beach on Lewis Bay Cape Cod.

While living at Thirwood Place in S. Yarmouth, MA she discovered her quick wit and loved telling jokes at her own expense. It kept her friends laughing and she loved making them smile. Sewing, knitting, cooking, baking, and eating pastries were her favorite pastimes and any time was a good time for a Chocolate Eclair.

Kay will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. She was an angel to her late husband Stephen O. Astulfi and loved him to the "moon and back". She is survived by her children Stephen M. Astulfi, Mary Green of Hamilton MA, Karen (Ron) O'Hanley of Boston MA and Southern Pines NC, and Suzanne (Thomas) Maddocks of Olmsted Falls OH. She adored and supported her six grandchildren and their spouses, Harrison and Marjorie (Crowley) O'Hanley of Los Angeles CA, Ryan and Lianne (Pennacchia) Maddocks of Philadelphia PA, Allison (O'Hanley) and Andre Bryan of New City NY, Mariah Astulfi of Hamilton MA, Cory and Jessica (Holley) Maddocks of Cincinnati OH and Elizabeth Astulfi of Somerville MA.

Kay truly appreciated all the people who cared about her and made her life sweet to the end.
