Obituary of Paul P Kalben

Paul P. Kalben, a father, husband, and brilliant computer scientist passed away Monday, December 18, 2023.

He was born in New York City, the son of the late Francis P. and Veronica Mary (Brown) Kalben. He was educated at Xavier High School and Fordham University,  earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics. It was here that Paul’s inquisitive mind led him into the computer science field.

After his honorable discharge from the army, Paul took a job in the defense industry. He earned his way onto prestigious teams that worked on the Apollo 11 Program and the F-14 Tom Cat. Paul’s passion for aerospace and fighter jets was lifelong. His contributions were not only technical but also reflective of a deep commitment to the security and progress of our nation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Paul enjoyed international traveling, a good cocktail and socializing. His gregarious nature brought people together and to his side, one of his crowning achievements was setting up a social group appropriately named “Cocktails and Conversation” which is still going strong in Naples, FL.

He was the loving husband of 57 years to the late Sharon (Meehan) Kalben who passed away in November of 2022. He is survived by his daughters Allison and Kendra, his sister Virginia, and their families.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Graveside service, with military honors, in Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL, on Friday, December 29^th at 2:30PM.
