I couldn't have said it better, Les. Gary was a staple in our household growing up (Holts). He and my brother George were the best of friends; the three amigos Gary, Jesse and George. He was George's best man and George couldn't have chosen a better person to stand for him.
Gary's character was that of one to look up to. He was an incredibly talented athlete that I'm blessed to have witnessed going to DHS together. We all recognized Gary's superior soccer skills (#3!). Gary didn't deserve this. ALS has no mercy. May Patti, Ryan and Tyler find peace and support through this incredibly difficult loss. I will forever remember Gary's smile. With sincere love to Gary's family, Tiffany Simon (Holt)

Patti, Tyler and Ryan,
I had the opportunity of growing up with Gary and attending high school with him. Gary grew up in the small town of Douglas where he graduated in the class of 1992 (38-seniors or so, yes, that small). During his time in Douglas, he excelled at soccer (his # 3) would often lead the team in scoring and goals, he played basketball and other sports (may even a game or two of pond hockey). Gary had the unique ability to bring people together, a good friend to upper and lower classmates. So sorry for your loss. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Patti, Tyler and Ryan,
We're deeply sorry to hear of your devastating loss. Surely, he touched many lives so I thought I'd share how he touched ours.
Tyler and Max played soccer together when they were younger, As a coach Gary was amazing, this we all know. The way he connected to the BYS team was magical the Spring of 2017. Always calm and he taught the game, victory after victory. The boys, about 10 at the time, would listen intently and follow his every instruction, eventually he coached that special group to win the Commissioner's Cup. A kids dream, the cheers, the delight on their faces.... Gary gave them childhood memories that will live forever in their minds. Some of those young men who shared June 18, 2017, still play soccer together today at BHS.
Undoubtedly, his life was a blessing in so many ways. Our hearts are heavy knowing his time with you ended much too soon.
May his memory be a blessing.

Gary was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and Godfather. Friendly, personable, generous, and always smiling, he was truly a friend to all. In fact, he was the quintessential “good guy”. Whenever we couldn’t attend one of the boys’ games or tournaments, Gary would keep us posted with game clips and pitch-by-pitch accounts of Ryan and Tyler’s game performance. How many guys would be willing to do that for their mother and father in-law? I dare say very few! His sudden and tragic death from this vicious disease at such a young age creates a huge void for us, his family and friends, and especially for Patti, Ryan, and Tyler.

When our son Jason called us tonight to tell us of Gary’s passing we were so very, very saddened to hear this news.
My husband and I both coached that little blonde haired, blue eyed, avid soccer fan years ago with our son Jason
when they played together for the Fuller Hamlets in Sutton. Gary and Jason played so well together both as teammates and as friends! Oh, the many goals they scored off of one another !!! Their birthdays were four days apart ! That smile…. we will remember it always and in time know that you will as well! Our deepest sympathy to all of Gary’s family and friends! Please hold all the wonderful memories you shared together in your hearts always!
