Peace and comfort to Al, Gail, and all the Fay family. To say Al was a Burlington institution is a huge understatement. Truly one of the nicest men you'd ever meet. My Mom worked with Al for years in her career at Town Hall and thought so highly of him as well.
Rest in Peace Al, the world was always a better place for your contributions and generosity.

Truly one of the nicest Men I have ever met. A gentleman, a lover of life, and always Happy. Burlington is missing a true lover of his town. A Burlington icon that should have a street named for him. I feel blessed and honored to have known him. When I think of him, the word Class is not fitting, he was World Class and will be missed.

I had memories of Al Fay when we went camping together. We used to play volleyball together at the family cottage. We used to cut down Christmas trees. He was a very funny guy! I remember last year my brother Richard saw him in the 4th of July parade with his old fire engine.

I had the privilege of knowing Al while I worked for the Planning Board. We had many wonderful conversations and had many laughs during long meetings. He was so kind to bring his beloved firetruck to my son's birthday party, and our neighborhood block party. He also invited my son to sit next to him during parades, which was always such a highlight for him. Many cub scouts and girl scout troops toured his impressive museum and He was always so gracious to all. He loved his town and his family most of all. Al was just an all around GREAT MAN! My condolences to his family and friends.

My heart is saddened to hear of Al Fay’s passing. My condolences to the Fay family, friends and the Town of Burlington. A wonderful man, devoted to family and fellow firefighters. Al was one of my Boy Scout leaders who was always there on camping trips, at the fire station or Memorial School for meetings. I last saw Al at a Truck Day event on the common a few years back and he hadn’t changed a bit. I got married and moved out of Burlington to Milford Ma. In 1974 and carried on with me what I learned from Al and growing up in Burlington. Scouting and Little league baseball, but never made it to be a fireman, though I tried. Thank you Al Fay for everything you did for me as a kid growing up in Burlington. And one more thing, you got me going early on as our milk man along with Bob Carpenter in those early days and to this day, that is my drink of choice.

The world was truly enlightened by Al. He was such a good friend and a joy to be with. I treasure the many good times spent with Al over our 30+ year friendship.
The mark he left in everyone's life is evident by the legacy he leaves behind in Burlington and well beyond, we all gained an Angel to look after us.

Dear Joyce and Family,
Please accept my condolences for your loss of Al.
To be honest, Al and I did not agree on pretty much anything related to town politics. However, we agreed on everything related to the furthering of the betterment of the Burlington community. It was my honor to get to know Al, his devotion to the annual Truck Day event (when one year we talked on the phone, while he was ironing decals on T-shirts until 4 a.m.) and meeting his niece, who told me how her Uncle Al's support meant everything. She served in the Peace Corps in the Middle East, Although Al was very concerned for his niece's personal safety, and didn't understand her personal commitment to humanitarian aid in this region, He supported her, 100 percent, nonetheless.

Every town needs more people like him, a true citizen. RIP.
If there are any photos of the Miller poultry farm, I'll digitize them before they are lost or "tossed."

Another Burlington institution passes.
As a child and then later as young adult, I remember that Al always had a smile and contagious laugh that seemed to say" everything will be okay"

My memories of Al (Mr. Fay or just Alfay) started with the early fire department when he worked with my dad, Lawrence (Larry) Faria. To a small boy in 1959, the firemen were 'The Men'. Herbie Crawford, Wilbur Macintire, Charlie Bunton, Bob Lee, Bob Verrier, many others. Al was also the fire department's representative to our Boy Scout troop 511. He and Harris Eigobroadt had a great influence on our lives and I can't imagine what it took to keep a literal troop of boys in hand, let alone teaching them anything, but they did it. I also recall freezing our buns off on a few 'Polar Bear' winter camping trips with Al and Wally Decoste in charge. Again, corralling a troop of boys for two nights and three days in February, in New Hampshire, I can only wonder at it. Compared to all of his other accomplishments it seems a small thing but at that age, the influence of these small things had a great impact on our lives and I have thought of them often. Well done Al.
