Dad was an admirable husband, hard worker, the cool uncle, and a role model father. Carol, Kerin and I were very lucky to live and learn from him and his passion for family. His city smarts and “youngest of 10” mindset made him a man we will forever love and respect. For a guy who lost his father at very young age, he dominated his way through fatherhood. Scoring goals and dropping the gloves when needed. He would do anything and give everything to protect his wife and daughter. He always kept it 100 with his jr. Always treated me like a man and never spoke on something he wasn’t going to handle. He was a G in my eyes. I thank him for all the times he ran routes and played catcher in the yard. The ice rinks and basketball hoops at the house. I’m thankful for the hours of work he had when I needed cash. I admire his loyalty to the people he surrounded himself with. I’m thankful for the tough talks and real conversations. He wouldn’t let me learn the easy way, it was the Somerville way. You gotta bring it brotha. Be tough and be cool big man. We all love you

I took this picture of Mike at a fundraiser for Earl Collins at the Somerville rink about ten years ago and kept it close to me ever since because there’s not too many people I know like these two men, ALL heart and no fear.
When Mike and I met in high school we hit it off right away and became a force to be reckoned with on the old blue line up until we were 50
At first much like Terry O’Reilly, Mike could hardly skate, he looked like a football player with ice skates, but it didn’t take him very long to start making an impact like everything he took on and although we didn’t win many games giving there were about eight of us including our goalie, playing teams in those rich suburbs with a squad of twenty plus. Oh how we gave those spoiled, preppy brats a schooling I’m sure they never forgot and laughed our asses off all the way home on the bus pounding back Budweisers and licking our wounds.
Till his last days we laughed at all the beatings we put on those kids who thought they were so superior than us because it was 12-3 by the end of the 2nd period until their fans started chanting OUR names. We were rock stars in our own right and I know you hear that Bro’Hearn so you best be saving me a seat up there You fished eyed fool and until that day comes not a day will go by that I won’t forget those days.
It’s an honor to say Mike was my BEST friend
Up with the sun and gone with the wind my brother!
Those smiling Irish eyes of yours will shine through your children…
And to Carol, Mike Jr. and Kerin my deepest heart felt condolences. He was so proud of you guys and I’m here for you anytime you need me or just want to hear more if you haven’t heard enough already.
Love you guys more than words can ever convey

Mike was such a great man…I feel blessed for having known him. It was great to see him at all of the Flogger games and being able to share some cold beers after the games. Mike fought the good fight…heaven got a little louder and I’m sure that he is watching over his family from the best seat in the house!!
Rest peacefully Mike…you’ve earned it.

I have so many memories it would take a book to explain the good times we have had. Going to the boxing matches and betting on them, kicking your was on the golf course, all the afternoons at the bar in Woburn after work where we met a lot of strange characters. So many memories I will always remember. I think I am the only TOWNIE that you ever gave a hug to. Save a corner seat at the Pub up there for me.
He positively knew he had met and married the love of his life when you guys got together. Love ya Carol. Bob
