Obituary of Margaret C Peterson

Margaret C. Peterson was born to her parents, John Gass and Rose Marie McShane. Margaret grew up in Burlington, MA where she attended high school. She started working after school and soon after met her husband to be, David Peterson. Margaret and David married and settled in Woburn, MA, where they made a wonderful life.

Margaret and David loved their time in Woburn, where they raised their two boys. Their house on Main Street was the perfect location for them. She loved to host others and celebrate – the biggest events were the Woburn Halloween Parade and the feasts at the Portuguese American Club. The boys will remember her “Candy inspections” on Halloween, when the boys finished trick or treating. She would hide a few Charleston Chews away in the freezer to have after the boys went to bed. She made sure all of her extended family and friends were having fun and felt welcomed.

Margaret reveled in her role as a mother. She was always so proud of her boys, cheering them on from the sidelines at their soccer and hockey games. The boys always knew she was there. She always had a fantastic energy that was infectious for those around her. Her love extended beyond her family as she always treated her neighbors with the utmost care and respect, checking in on them and making sure all had what they needed.

Margaret and the family vacationed in New Hampshire with annual trips to Madison. The family stayed in a cottage where they spent time hanging out by the lake, swimming, fishing, sitting around a fire, and going out to eat at some of her favorite restaurants like the Muddy Moose in North Conway. Margaret loved the peace, quiet and calmness of the outdoors.

Margaret was an avid reader and was always very crafty and loved investing time in the little things. She liked walking the beach and collecting nice rocks that she could later paint and leave behind for others to find. She also enjoyed exploring thrift stores, searching for treasures that others had moved on from. She had the talent to take a piece that was in good shape, but needed a little care, and fix it up to make it look good as new again.

Margaret had many loves in her life. She had a big heart for animals and never said no to a sweet. She was always fond of owls, and cared deeply for her pets over the years. Margaret loved all of her dogs, cats, ferrets, birds and hamsters over the years.

Margaret was the beloved wife of David Peterson of Sandown, NH. She was the loving mother of David Peterson Jr. and his girlfriend Sarah D’Entremont and Eddie Cetrone and his wife Leila. She was the proud grandmother to Madeline Cetrone. Margaret was the caring sister to Roseanne Karahalios and her husband the late Bobby of North Carolina, Deborah Igo and her husband the late Timothy of Tewksbury, Daniel Gass & his wife Valerie of Burlington, Robert Gass & his wife Lynda of Billerica and the late Edward Gass. She was the dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Margaret will be held on Wednesday, March 6, from 4 to 7 PM at the Edward V. Sullivan Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. Burial will be private.
