Obituary of Elisabeth E Fulton
ELISABETH E. FULTON
Elisabeth E. (Glossa) Fulton, 100, of Burlington, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 7, 2024.
“Betty” was born in Watertown, MA, the daughter of William R. and Elisabeth J. (Gradie) Glossa. One of nine children, she attended the Hosmer School where she skipped first grade because the Principal told her she was too tall. During the Great Depression she was given the opportunity to attend the Sisters of St. Joseph High School in Maryland, graduating at age sixteen. Following graduation, she immediately went to work in the banking industry in Boston while helping to contribute to her large family household.
She was the wife of the late Paul Fulton with whom she enjoyed 55 years of marriage. They raised four children together in Lexington in the home on Tower Road where she lived for over 50 years. She greatly enjoyed her neighbors Hope and Roz as they all raised their children together in the laidback 1950’s and 60’s. Having visited her grandmother as a child at her cottage in Brant Rock, she found her way back when she and Paul purchased a cottage in nearby Green Harbor where the family spent many summers and created many memories. Along with her four sisters, she was always planning the next Glossa get together whether at the beach or in Lexington.
After her children were grown, she worked for a number of years as the office manager for Century 21 Adams Realty in Arlington. Over her time there she was considered indispensable to all the agents in the office as she attended to the details of their closings and then brought them to a successful conclusion and the resultant commission of course.
She spent her final years living independently at Stonebridge in Burlington, MA where she had several good friends, took daily walks, bet on the Patriots, and provided advice to the chef on both the menu and the results.
She is survived by her four children, Peter J. Fulton and his wife Ellen of Concord, MA, Michael Fulton and his wife Janice of N. Chelmsford, MA, Mariellen Metraw and her husband John of Canton, GA, Susan Fulton and her husband Greg Burgess of South Weymouth, MA. Also, her grandchildren Kaitlin, Kylie, PJ, Caroline, Dennis, Brett, Allison, Jack, Morgan, Mallory and her great grandchildren Marjorie, Ellie, Brooke, Owen, MacKenzie, Cooper, Claire, Mia, Charlie, Margot, and Luke. All of whom she adored.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a future date and time to be announced.
