On behalf of the Cashman family who had the privilege of living in the house beside the Mathews family on Alma Rd, please accept our condolences and heartfelt thoughts over the “moving on” of Jayne from this life to the next.
Jannie was a two year old toddler when we moved next door in 1954 and her bright eyes, red hair and smile was all you needed to know about her. She loved traipsing around behind her older brothers and all of the boys as we dipped our hands into the stream to pull out tadpoles or tapped frogs on the backside to make them jump. She was always fascinated at how quick we could catch lightning bugs and get them all in a jar to light up the way throughout the fields that were our backyards. Tomboy that she was, she always lingered by the boys daily baseball , football and basketball games waiting for the boys but never her brothers to invite her to play.
Jaynie charmed the neighborhood, the town of Burlington and just about everyone she met in her life. She had the love of her Dad and the quick sarcastic wit of her Mother.
She changed the world and we’re better for it.
God bless you neighbor, you’ll always have a place in the hearts of the Cashman boys.
