Kishorkumar K. Patel, a motel owner, passed away after a brief illness at his home surrounded by his family. He was 63 years old. Kishor was born in Bhomapardi, Valsad, India the son of Khalapbhai and Shantaben Patel. He grew up and was educated in Bhomapardi. After he graduated from university, he married his wife, Bharti, and they immigrated to the United States settling in Burlington in 1985. Kishor worked as a team leader and supervisor for Celestica Company, Hewlett Packard, and Plexus for over 20 years. But Kishor wanted the “American Dream”. So, he purchased a motel in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He then purchased a second motel in Corning, New York. He put his entire being into the businesses. Days off during the summer season were few and far between. He wanted the business to run seamlessly and his customer experience to be impressive. Like many successful small businesses, his family supported him physically and morally. He enjoyed working alongside his brother Kiran in his business ventures and appreciated the support of his wife and children. The one benefit of owning the motels that catered to summer guests was that during the off season he could return to India to visit his parents, in-laws, family, and childhood friends.
Kishor was a determined man. He enjoyed entertaining and never wanted anyone to leave his home hungry. He was a bit of a “Foodie”. He appreciated good food and the dining experience. As a father he wanted the best for his children. His children’s education was very important to him. He encouraged them to participate in extracurricular activities that helped get them into leading colleges which then led to successful careers. Growing up his children might think he was a bit stubborn and protective, but it was his way of showing his love and wanting only the best opportunities for them. Kishor worked hard for everything in his life. He took risks that others might not have been comfortable doing, an eight hour day was unfathomable, and the belief that success is only the result of substantial effort. Kishor accomplished his dream of having a successful business and loving family. He will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered.
Kishor was the beloved husband of 40 years of Bharti Patel. He was the extremely proud father of Ankita Patel & her husband Kunal Bhakta of Winter Garden, FL and Kush Patel of Burlington. He was the loving son of Khalapbhai and Shantaben Patel of India. He was the brother of Kiran Patel & his wife Pragna Patel of Corning, NY and Saroj Patel of Maryland. He was a special uncle to Megha and Piya Patel of Corning, NY. Kishor was also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and longtime employees.
