Obituary of Maddalena Pieroni

Maddalena “Madeline Hachey” Pieroni, passed away surrounded by her family at her bedside on Thursday night, June 20, 2013 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading, MA after a courageous battle with cancer for many years. She was 71 years old. Madeline was born to the late Edi & Frimola Pieroni in Lucca, Italy, she and her family came to the United States when she was 13 years old settling in Somerville. Madeline was a graduate of Somerville High School later moving to Burlington to raise her family. She worked as a seamstress at home for many years when her children were young. She then spent over 15 years working at the Burlington Papa Gino’s where she enjoyed cooking but most of all the companionship of her coworkers. Madeline was happiest when she was home surrounded by her family. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and decorating her home. She was a fantastic cook and carried on the family recipes from Northern Italy. Her home was always filled with delicious aromas emanating from her kitchen with Sunday dinners being a very important tradition for her. She had a great eye for style and flair which was evident when she attended any event. She adored her many pets. She loved her family and friends and she leaves them with lasting memories filled with laughter and love. She will be greatly missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of all those who loved her. Madeline was the loving mother of George Hachey, Jr. & his wife Heidi of Somerville, Laurie (Hachey) Michelangelo & her husband Sante of Wilmington, and Michele (Hachey) Gasper & her husband Jay of Bedford. Proud grandmother of Arielle & Alyssa Hachey and Nicholas & Christopher Michelangelo. Loving sister of Josephine “Jo” Mucci of Woburn. Godmother & aunt of Jeneen and John Mucci of Somerville. Also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Monday, June 24 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret's Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
