When I think of my Aunty Renee, I think of the word “cheerful.” She had endless amounts of joy, happiness, and always “double love.” Renee’s love not only extended to her late Husband, Uncle Herbie, but also to her dear friends who became her family. She was our soul aunt. The one who always called and sang to us on our birthdays. The one who was always there to lend a sympathetic ear. The one who would always smile big and bring the laughter. She was a bright light in an uncertain world.
Aunty Renne’s cheer shined through in many ways. She loved Christmas and kept her house decorated for the holiday, filled to the brim with wreaths, angels, and bows. She collected angels of all shapes and sizes. They filled every room of her house, a true reflection of her joyous spirit. Aunty Renee loved to dance, and I assume she was a pretty good dancer because that is how she met her husband, the love of her life. They lived a very happy life together and went on many adventures. Whether they were traveling the world or spending quality time with close friends, they embraced life to its fullest.
Aunty Renee’s cheerful personality was also very prevalent in her appearance. She was always equipped with a quintessential blue eyeshadow, dark mascara, and a fuschia lip. She embraced her aging, letting her hair grow white, and kept the same hairstyle for the entire 24 years that I knew her. Most importantly, she always wore a smile on her face, something that is loved and remembered by many.
Now the time has come to say goodbye to our sweet earth angel. As challenging as that is, we can all look back with gratitude on our fond memories of her. Whether she was your best friend, soul sister, or aunt may you cherish her memory. Look for her in the yellow roses, hear her voice in the laughter, and feel her love in the Christmas spirit. Aunty Renee’s life does not end with death, for she is with God now and for that, we can all be eternally thankful. Rest in peace, sweet Aunty Renee.
