Obituary of James H. Cockroft
James H. “Jamie” Cockroft, III, age 37, passed away suddenly at his home in Burlington on May 16, 2024, following lifelong health struggles.
Jamie was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on March 8, 1987, and was lovingly adopted by James H. Cockroft, Jr. and Elaine (Wolfenden) Cockroft just eighteen months later. The Cockroft’s always hoped for a baby boy to complete their family, and Jamie was the missing piece they were always longing for. Jamie attended the Case Collaborative and Melmark School for many years, where he made numerous friends and was able to share his nurturing way with others. Most recently, he resided at Nupath home in Burlington, where he continued to be a bright light to anyone he met.
Although Jamie had some health struggles in his life, you would never know because of just how enormous his personality and capacity for kindness were. He had a bright, infectious smile, and could win over even the most stubborn heart. His main goal in life was to spread joy to others, no matter what. Whether he was volunteering for meals on wheels, or just going out of his way to give a hug and a loving presence to one of his beloved friends; Jamie always went the extra mile to make sure everyone around him felt truly loved and appreciated.
Along with his adoring parents, Jay and Elaine, Jamie is survived by his three loving sisters, Heather Denehy and her husband Keith of N. Reading, Jill Auger and her partner Chad Beaulieu of Holden, and Kim Kezima and her husband Eric of Bedford; his eight beloved nieces and nephews, Cole, Alyssia, Mia, Nisa, Evan, Stephanie, Kate, and Jack, as well as many other dear cousins and friends, who’s lives he deeply touched.
Arrangements: Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23rd from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 12 p.m. At the request of the family, burial at sea will take place at a later date.
