Obituary of Richard A. Farrow

Richard “Dick” A. Farrow, age 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Burlington on Friday, May 17, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of Maureen A. (Small) Farrow, who was the love of his life for 70 years, and was his devoted wife for 65 of them.

Born in Woburn, MA on July 25, 1937, he was one of five children to the late William and Irene (Gratton) Farrow.  Dick graduated from Medford Vocational School, but not before he met his incredible wife, Maureen.  They met on a blind date when they were just 16 years old, and from that day on Dick began taking her to school daily, just to get some extra time with her any way he could.  After five years of courtship, he took the next steps and began a long life of love, devotion to family, and 65 beautiful years of marriage.  After settling down and starting his family, Dick went on to work for various electronic and homeland defense companies until his retirement.

In his free time, Dick could be found outside tending to his garden, or in the kitchen getting his sausage and peppers ready for whatever event was coming up next.  He jumped at any opportunity to cook his famous go-to’s for the people he loved most.  He also enjoyed getting a round of golf in every chance he got.  Golfing was truly one of Dick’s greatest passions in life, second only to his family.  There was nothing in this life that was more important to Dick than his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His enormous heart and sentimental nature made it easy for him to show just how deeply his love ran for each of them.  Whether he was coaching his children’s little league teams, or spending two weeks at Hampton Beach each summer with over 70 of his closest relatives; Dick was constantly striving to making lasting, meaningful memories with the people loved most in life.

Along with his dear wife Maureen, Dick is survived by his eight children, Lisa Farrow of Burlington, Richard Farrow, Jr. of Burlington, Keith Farrow and his wife Andrea of Billerica, Kevin Farrow of Burlington, MaryBeth Osborne of Burlington, Timothy Farrow and his wife Linda of Georgia, Sean Farrow and his partner Andrea Fairfax of North Carlina, and Jennifer Lund and her husband Steven of Millis; his brother, Roland Farrow of Florida; his 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dick was a loving brother to the late Robert Farrow, June Baker, and Roy Farrow.

Arrangements:  Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington, on Wednesday, May 22nd from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Barbara’s Parish, 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn on Thursday, May 23rd at 12 p.m.  Please meet at church.  At the request of the family, burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s honor may be made to either, The American Heart Association, 93 Worcester St., Wellesley, MA 02481, or to St. Jude’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
