Obituary of Frank Marzeoti
Frank Marzeoti, retired owner of HVAC Engineering in Burlington and Billerica, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 24, 2024. He was 88 years old. Frank was born and raised in Somerville. He was one of two sons born to Francis and Pauline Marzeoti. He was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1954. He met his wife at a dance. To break the ice, he asked three very candid questions which she successfully answered, and their life together began. They were married in 1960 and settled in Burlington in 1961 to raise their family. They made a wonderful couple. Cathy’s outgoing spirit brought out the best in Frank. They had wonderful circles of friends with whom they boated, golfed, and vacationed together.
Frank served in the Army during the Korean War. It was in the Army that he was introduced to HVAC repair. He was a member of the HH&M CO, 110th T Battalion. He served in the Army for four years of which 16 months were spent overseas. He was discharged as a Specialist Third Class and was recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was proud to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War and proudly wore his US Veteran baseball cap wherever he went.
After his military service, Frank became a member of the Pipefitters Local 537 Union and went to work for BALCO as an HVAC service technician. He then cofounded HVAC Engineering with two of his past coworkers and friends where he became active and very involved with the union body. They specialized in the commercial and industrial industry. The company grew to over 30 employees. He had a strong work ethic and was well-respected by his clients and employees and preached about doing the job right the first time. In later years, his son Robert, daughter Carolann, and son-in-law Kyle joined the company. He retired in 2002 and moved to Fort Myers, Florida.
Frank was a determined businessman but was able to manage a work-life balance spending time with his family and friends. He had a core group of friends who shared the same interests of golfing, boating, and playing cards. Frank was an avid boater. He was a member of the Spinnaker Cove Yacht Club in Paugus Bay and spent many summers at Lake Winnipesaukee where he met a lot of lifetime friends. When he retired, he became a member of the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club in Fort Myers where he continued his love for boating, golfing, and playing cards. In his quiet time, he enjoyed doing puzzles, painting, and Sudoku.
Frank was extremely devoted to his family. It started with his devotion to his wife of almost 64 years, Cathy. They had a wonderful relationship, shared passions, and embraced life together. They made a warm and loving home for their children, gave them many opportunities and experiences, and smothered them with love and support. When he became a grandfather, he was like a huge teddy earning the nickname “Papa Bear.” He was very generous, loving, loyal, and fun. He was a big man with even a bigger heart who will be missed, but never forgotten.
Frank was the beloved husband of Catherine (Croce) Marzeoti. He was the loving father of Susan Romano and her husband Kyle of Burlington, the late Robert Marzeoti, and the late Carolann Smathers & her surviving husband Danny of Billerica. He was predeceased by his brother Donald and his late wife Flora. He was the proud “Papa” of Justin, the late Kyle and his surviving wife Tara, and Cara Marzeoti, Ryan & Tyler Smathers, Nick & Noelle Romano. He was the proud great-grandfather of Caiden, Charli, Toni & Ryker Marzeoti.
