Obituary of Annemarie Rollins

Annemarie Rollins of Burlington passed away Wednesday, July 31st.  Annemarie was born in Cambridge and lived in Somerville till 1953 when she and her family moved to Woburn’s West Side.  In her early years in Woburn, she and her family were very involved in the establishment of St. Barabara’s Parish.  Annemarie volunteered at many bingo nights and cards games, hosted by her parents, to fundraise for the church building.  She attended St. Charles where she played basketball and developed lifelong relationships.  She later moved to Burlington in 1972.

Annemarie volunteered at St. Charles, where her children attended, as part of the PTO.  She helped to establish a hearing and eye screening program.  After the program got off the ground, she actively participated in the screening of many of the students to identify deficits in both hearing and vision.  She participated in fundraisers for the school and chaperoned many of the events.  Annemarie later worked as an administrative assistance at McElhiney and Matson in Woburn and Alysys corporation in Burlington. After she retired, she volunteered at Sunrise in Arlington.

She was very active for many years in the woman’s bowling league at the former Brunswick lanes in Burlington and enjoyed spending summers on the Cape in the village of Pocasset with her family.

Annemarie was the daughter of the late Thomas G. Rooney and Anna (Smith) Rooney and the brother of Thomas D Rooney. She is survived by her children Colonel Richard G. Rollins (U.S. Army Ret) and his wife Linda of Woburn, Michael P. Rollins and his wife Elizabeth of Dracut and Cindy (Rollins) Monchecourt and her husband Tod of Sarasota, FL. She was also survived by her grandchildren Sarah and her husband Joshua, Amanda, Mark, William, Erik, and Charlotte and her former husband Paul R. Rollins of Berwick Maine.
