Obituary of Alicia J Flores

Alicia J. (Galleguillos) Flores, age 90, of Woburn, formerly of Burlington with her late husband Rudolph Galleguillos, passed away peacefully at her home in Woburn on September 5, 2024.  She was the beloved wife of the late Juan Flores, with whom she shared many years of marriage prior to his passing in 2023.

Born in Chuquicamata, Chile on June 6, 1934, she was one of five children of the late Brieunos Naranjo.  Alicia’s mother passed when she was only eight years old, leaving her to be raised by her grandmother.  She loved her life in Chile, and her eldest daughter Jane was even born there.  In 1955 though, Alicia made a permanent move to the United States to be with her husband who was in the army.  Together, they went on settle their family in Woburn for several years before moving to Burlington in 1964, then back to Woburn again in 1977.

In her free time, Alicia loved working in her garden at home that was filled with beautiful flowers.  She also would spend time at the Chilean Folklore Club as often as she could, and absolutely loved to dance.  Alicia worked effortlessly at being a loving and devoted mother, wife, and friend.  While her children were young, she worked hard to keep her home tidy and support her family.  When they were old enough though, she went to nursing school and became an equally devoted VNA nurse in Arlington.  Her deep-rooted faith, and genuine kindness and love for others, made Alicia one of the most compassionate VNA nurses a family could ask for.  She truly felt connected to each of her patients, and reveled in being there for people who needed her most.  Her sweet nature and caring tendencies spilled over into ever aspect of her life though.  Alicia was always working to brighten the days of those around her, whether it was through her devotion to her church and her faith, or her steadfast and steady love for her family; she always made it a point to bring sunshine to the lives she touched.  Alicia will forever be remembered for her tremendously kind soul, striking beauty, and warmth she brought to every room.

Alicia is survived by her four of her seven children, Rudy Galleguillos of Woburn, Albert Galleguillos and his wife Susan of Burlington, Tricia Martin of Woburn, and Rita Race of Billerica; her dear siblings, Luis Naranjo and his wife Silvia of Woburn, and Rosa of Chile; 14 wonderful grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many other dear nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Alicia was the loving mother of the late Sonia Parks, Jane Huggins, and Frances Galleguillos.  She was also a dear sister to the late Mimi, and Georgia of Chile.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10th from 5 pm until 7 pm.  Her Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11th at 11 a.m.  Burial will immediately follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
