Michele Abramo

Obituary of Michele Denise Abramo

Michele Denise Abramo of Amesbury, formerly of Burlington, sadly passed away on September 7, 2024.  She was 58 years old.  Michele was born in Winchester, third in line and the only girl of four siblings. She grew up in Burlington and was a 1984 graduate of Burlington High School where she was part of the track and cross-country teams. Following high school, Michele worked in a variety of fields which even included working for her dad and her brothers in their respective businesses. She found her niche as a bartender and worked at a popular, local restaurant for many years. Her charm, bubbly personality and tremendous social abilities earned her a large clientele as she always made them feel welcomed and appreciated.

Michele is someone who loved people and found joy in interacting with others. She was cheerful, outgoing, and made friends easily. Her friend group was large and loyal. Her most coveted and life- long friends were referred to, by Michele, as her “besties”.

Her silly antics and infectious laugh endeared her to her nieces, nephews, and god children. Spending time with them gave her incredible joy. Her heart was full when she attended their recitals, sports games, and family events.

Michele was an extremely caring and sympathetic individual. She frequently volunteered her time at the local Homeless Veteran’s Shelter and was really passionate about being part of a dog fostering program. Often times, she had trouble letting go of her furry friends.

Michele was truly a free spirit. She traveled to Greece and camped on a beach for several weeks to protect turtle populations as part of the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece. Before returning home, she flew to Sicily to introduce herself to family she had never met before. They welcomed her with open arms, shared meals together, and reminisced through family photo albums despite the language barrier.

From the outside Michele appeared happy and she wanted everyone around her to be happy. On the inside, she had her struggles. Michele loved so many and was loved by so many. If love alone could only have saved her, she would have lived forever. She will be missed by so many.

Michele was the beloved daughter of the late Nunzio and Lianne (Powers) Abramo.  She was the sister of Paul Abramo & his wife Lorraine of Moultonborough, NH, formerly of Billerica, Stephen Abramo & his wife Sandra “Sam” of Dracut, and Philip Abramo & his wife Michele of Burlington.  She was the fun and loving aunt of Anthony Abramo & his wife Jenna, Kristin Stelter & her husband David, Hannah, Lily, Alyssa, Joey and Mia Abramo. She was the great aunt of Kaylie, Amelia, and Ellie.  She was a lifelong friend to her “besties” Susan Lynch, Michelle Gilbert, Nancy Doherty, and Amy DiRenzo.

Michele’s family will be having a private funeral service.  If you would like to honor Michele’s memory, memorials in her name may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
