Obituary of Mary Carlson

Mary L. (Mandarano) Carlson passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday afternoon, July 6, 2013. The beloved wife of 66 years of Thomas, she would have celebrated her 86th birthday on July 24th. Mary was born in Gardner. Mary was raised and educated in Worcester. As was very common when Mary was growing up, she left school early to help her mom and the family. She then eventually went back to school receiving her high school diploma. She went on to attend Burdett Secretarial School where she received a Certificate – Mary was very proud of this accomplishment. Mary’s life was centered on providing a home for her husband and five children. Mary was truly devoted to her husband Tom. They were together since the age of 14 when they began dating. They settled in Burlington in 1965. Tom and Mary enjoyed traveling and had visited such destinations as Las Vas and Ireland. She was very excited to have the opportunity to visit her granddaughter in London while she was attending a semester at college there. Mary was blessed to live a life that spanned close to 86 years that were filled with many loving times spent with Tom and her children. She was very fortunate to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives as they grew into adulthood and to be able to spend many precious moments with her great grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of family and love. Mary is the beloved wife of 66 years of Thomas Carlson. She was the loving mother of Paula Sherbertes of Melrose, Thomas & his wife Karen of Burlington, Helena Doyle & her husband Steven of Lexington, Carol Vachon & her husband Phil of Burlington, Richard Pease & his spouse Douglas of Oak Bluffs. Mother-in-law of Maura Carlson of Burlington. Sister of Joseph Mandarano of Shirley and Josette Burts of Alvin, Texas, and the late Florence Melanson & Frank Mandarano. Proud grandmother of Thomas & John Paul Carlson, Sheila Nobrega, Danielle, Ryan & Adam Sherbertes, Christopher & Bryan Olsen, Mallory & Jennifer Vachon, Catherine & Lauren Carlson. Great grandmother of Ava & Evan Nobrega, Alexis & Sienna Sherbertes, Thomas & Ryder Carlson, and Ryan, Annika & Anneli Olsen. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128 Woburn side) on Wednesday July 10 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington
