Daniel R. Moreira Obituary

Daniel R. Moreira, 86, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away after a brief illness on November 8, 2024.

Born in Saint Michaels, Azores, Daniel spent his early years immersed in the beauty and traditions of his homeland. It was there, as a young adult, he met his future wife, Maria Rego, who would become his lifelong companion. In November of 1964, seeking better opportunities and a brighter future Daniel and his wife immigrated to the United States.  They initially settled in Cambridge, then Somerville, and later moved to Woburn whre they built a home filled with warmth and love, and raised their two sons.

Daniel’s work ethic was a hallmark of his life and for 26 years, he worked at Fenton Shoe company as a maintenance custodian and security manager, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the facility. Later, he took on a new roll in the linen department at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, where he served with dedication for an additional nine years.

In his younger days, Daniel delighted in making wine, in the tradition that brought him closer to his roots and offered him joyful moments with his brothers as they shared the fruits of their labor.  His pride in his home was evident to all that knew him; he meticulously cared for every detail, creating a welcoming space for family and friends. Though known for his resilience and stubborn determination, Daniel also had a lighthearted side that endeared him to those around him.
