Ronald F. Bucknam, 81, of Reading, passed away Friday, December 6th at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, Melrose.

Ronald was born in Winchester, the son of the late Francis and Marguerite (Bryn) Bucknam, he was educated in the Burlington school system and graduated from the Medford Vocational High School with a certificate in welding. This education laid the foundation for a lifelong career defined by hard work and skill.

Immediately after graduation, Ronald began a 30-year tenure with North Woburn Machine, where his craftsmanship and dedication earned him the respect of all who worked alongside him. He always kept busy, even after long hours at work, he would continue working side jobs to help better provide for his family. His immense work ethic made him the go to person when anything needed to be fixed, his skillful hands were unmatched, earning him the title of family handyman.

Ronald’s true passions lay beyond his welding torch. He loved the outdoors, especially the sea. He spent countless days fishing off Crane’s Beach in Ipswich aboard his beloved boats, the 6 Bucks and the Dizzy Miss Lizzy. He was equally drawn to the mountains, cherishing time spent at his cabin in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. Ron found joy in snowmobiling trips through the pristine trails of New Hampshire and Maine, creating memories with family that will be treasured forever. In his later years, he took up gardening showcasing his green thumb, his garden was always filled with beautiful colors and smells.

Summers were for gatherings and Ronald was known for hosting unforgettable Fourth of July cookouts by his pool, surrounded by laughter and the people he loved most. In his later years, he and his loving companion of 36 years, Carole Rindone, embraced the simple joys of retirement- cruising to Bermuda, soaking up the sun by the pool and enjoying life’s quieter moments together.
