Obituary of Florence Moroney
Florence “Flo” Moroney passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2006. The wife of the late Joseph Michael “Mickey” Moroney, she was 69 years old. Flo was born in the family home in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Albert and Florence Mooney. She was raised and educated in Dorchester. She moved to Burlington in 1968 where she raised her 4 children. Flo worked as an Administrative Secretary for a number of years at Sumitomo Company in Burlington and Matheson and Higgins Co. in Woburn.
Flo was a vibrant and loving person. She enjoyed being in the company of her friends and family. She served as Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Woburn Irish American Club. She was also very active at the Logan Post of the VFW. She enjoyed all sports and was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan. She was proud of her Irish Heritage and loved anything Irish. Over the years, she had traveled to Ireland numerous times. She cherished the many special times she spent with her family. She had just celebrated the birth of her eighth grandchild. Flo will be deeply missed by all.
Flo is the beloved wife of the late Joseph Michael “Mickey” Moroney, Jr. She is the loving mother of Joseph “Mick” Moroney, III & his wife Patricia of Wilmington, Mark Moroney & his wife Karen of Medway, Maureen Moroney of Methuen, and Timothy Moroney & Diane Bright of Berwick, ME. She is the sister of Barbara White of Middleboro, Albert Mooney of Wareham, and Donald Mooney of Kingston. She is the loving grandmother of Joseph M., IV, Ryan, Sean, Brynna, Conor, Brian, Kevin and Hannah Rose. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
