Obituary of Sylvia Trussell

Sylvia Trussell a retired Bank of America employee passed after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday morning, August 8, 2013. She was 82 years old. Sylvia was born in Worcester the daughter of George and Anna George. She grew up and was educated in Worcester. She married her husband, Don, shortly after he graduated from Boston University in 1956. They both were employed in the newly formed National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the Langley Aeronautical Laboratory. Don was an engineer and Sylvia was an administrative assistant. It was an exciting time to be with NASA, the Soviet Union had launched Sputnick, and President Dwight DO. Eisenhower entered the United States into the Space Race! They stayed in Virginia for 4 years, before they returned to Massachusetts and settled in Burlington in 1960. Sylvia worked as an administrative assistant at Bay Bank in Burlington and stayed with the bank over it's many merges and acquisitions. After 25 years, she eventually retired from Bank of America. Sylvia was an extremely talented seamstress and crafter. Much of her wardrobe was made with her own hands in her sewing room. She proudly stitched her own clothing label &quote;Sylvia Louise Original&quote; on her outfits. She enjoyed gardening and spending the summers at the family cottage in Wareham. In her later years she enjoyed going to Bingo with her girlfriends. She had a loving and caring marriage to her husband of 57 years, Donald. She first rebuffed his attempt to court her, but with Don's persistence, she finally gave into a date, which would lead to 57 years of marriage. They supported each other in their careers, interests, as well as cared for each other during their times of illness. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington, (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy's Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Interment will be on Wednesday at noon at the Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Rd, Sterling. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
