Obituary of Marie Serra

Marie M. (Cahill) Serra passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, August 7, 2013. The beloved wife of the late Francis C. Serra, she was 79 years old. Marie was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in East Boston. She moved to Burlington in 1962 where she raised her two children. Marie worked at Houghton Mifflin for over 20 years. For the past ten years was a familiar face at the Burlington Public Library working part-time as a Librarian. Marie was an active and independent woman. Marie walked 4 miles each day at the Burlington Mall. She enjoyed hiking and hiked all over the world including such places such as England and Holland. Not one to sit idle Marie also enjoyed sewing and crafts. She took pride in her work and loved to display her pieces at craft fairs. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Francis C. Loving mother of Michael & his wife Melinda of Newport Beach, CA and Michelle Monro & her husband Michael of Burlington. Proud grandmother of Francis & Matthew Munro and Samantha & Olivia Serra. Memorials in Marie’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Funeral Services were private.
