Marlene, I just found out today of your passing, I was so hartbroken to hear that news. I sent you a XMAS card and said I was trying to reach you to get together with our Lahey group and have our annual XMAS lunch. George called me today when he received the card I sent and told me about your passing. I was so sorry to hear that, I felt a part of me is gone since our group of 6 is now down to 4. Knowing you for the past 15 1/2 years was wonderful.
All your stories about your beautiful family and your new grandchild, everything was so perfect. All your travels and your interest in everything you did. Never complaining of anything going wrong, I remember both of us use to say; Live for Today and I know you did and I will always do that.
I called the others from our group and they were all in shock. I will miss you at our luncheons my friend, I will miss your precious stories.
It was a pleasure to know you and to meet George.
Rest In Peace my friend......
Love,
Jean

Dear George and Family,
I had the distinct privilege of meeting Marlene and George this last February as we traveled with many of the Bobcats on a Caribbean cruise. I was happy to connect with Marlene as I felt she was one of the sweetest and genuine women I have ever known. Another facet of her winning personality was that she was completely devoted to George. It was my honor to have meet and known the two of them. I was saddened to learn of her passing and I will miss her.

I knew Marlene as a co-worker at the IRS She was wonderful,
pleasant, funny, and one of my favorite people to see at work. She became a Union Steward with me and I enjoyed seeing her work with the other employees working out their problems.
After they closed our office, I relatively stayed in touch and Marlene & her husband George supported my music whenever they were able to come out. We had planned on a small meet with some of our other former employees, when Marlene informed me that she had planned to attend even though she was
"having some medical problems" and didn't show up, I was hoping that everything was ok, but I didn't call or write. A few days later I was informed. This is a lost to all of us at the IRS phone site family. We all loved Marlene very much. I will keep George and his children in my prayers.

My parents are long time friends of Marlene and George. In fact, Marlene was the one who introduced my parents - so I have much to thank her for! She was always a good friend, but was particularly supportive of my family and my sister who also battled cancer. She will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her, George, Andrew and Melissa.

I was a co-worker with her at the Internal Revenue Service customer service phone site in Boston back in 2003, working with her on a project dealing with flex spending arrangements and what prescription and non-prescription drugs could be paid for with those accounts. She knew her stuff both as a tax law technician, and was a union steward before the phone site was closed. She will be sorely missed by anyone who knew her and worked with her professionally.

Marlene & I were close work mates from a team of coworkers who were tightly knitted; getting together on our off moments or having a party or going out to eat and gasping through our struggles after the move to the Lowell site. Though I took the nightshift, Marlene made it a point to stop by and chat before heading out the door. Other than the routine shop talk about the political winds that tossed us about, she would lighten up about news she had read in Prevention, or trips her and George were planning. Her manta at the end of these conversations were always grab for the lees and don’t procrastinate. People who knew her heard her often say. Veiled in those thoughts, for Marlene, it was something more than a cliché but deeply felt. I’m heartbroken for George, Melissa and Andrew whom she loved and spoke freely and glowingly about and for all her family and friends who I count myself as one.
