Obituary of Allan Rowe
Allan J. Rowe, a retired electrical engineer, passed away after an extended illness at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home, on Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2013. He was 83 years old.
Allan was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Harrie and Rosabel Rowe. He grew up and was educated in Marlborough. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School. During the Korean War, Allan was called to serve his country as a member of the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Education was very important to Allan. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester Poly Tech and his Master’s Degree from Northeastern University. During his retirement years he audited a wide variety of classes at Boston University . Allan had a long and distinguished career as an Electrical Engineer at Raytheon working at both the Bedford and Tewksbury locations.
Allan was not one to sit idle. He was a member of Toastmasters. He enjoyed working on computers and surfing the internet. Allan was an avid gardener and took special care growing the fruit trees in his yard. He was blessed to have shared 58 years of marriage to his wife, Anne. He en was very proud of his children and his grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Allan was the devoted husband of Anne E. (McGee). He was the loving father of Kathleen McElaney of Warwick, RI, Michael & his wife Donna of Portsmouth, NH, William & his wife Susan of Middletown, NJ, Mary Rowe of Cambridge, Patrick & his wife Paula of Chelmsford and Carolyn Rowe of Burlington. He was the brother of Robert of Northboro, Paul of Mashpee and the late Harrie. He was the proud grandfather of Sarah & Colin McElaney; Michael, Lauren, Carmalina, Justina, Stephen, Katie, Aaron & Hayley Rowe.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 10 AM to Noon. Funeral Services will be held immediately following at the Funeral Home at Noon. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
