Obituary of John Pineo

John Stanley Pineo, a man dedicated to his family, profession, and community, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday, September 29, 2013. The beloved husband of Patricia (King) he was 70 years old. John was born in Boston. He was raised and educated in Brighton and was a 1961 graduate of Brighton High School. John was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. John had a long career working at Boston Gas. He had extensive knowledge in all aspects of the professional and loved sharing his knowledge with coworkers. He started as a Serviceman and then went on to be a Gas Heater Specialist, Trainer and Training Coordinator. He also taught Defensive Training while at Boston Gas. John was a great provider for his family and always worked two jobs. In addition to working at Boston Gas John also owned American Gas Connections for 10 years where he serviced by residential and commercial customers. At night he taught classes at the Peterson School in Woburn. John was an active member of the community of Burlington, where he had made his home for the past 43 years. He drove the Senior Shuttle for 4 or 5 years. He was a volunteer at BCAT and a Summer Ranger at the Burlington Recreation Department. He was one of the Founders and Past President of Burlington Youth Wrestling. John was not one to sit idle. He was a hands on type of person and always had a project whether it was wallpapering a room, building cabinets, redoing a floor, or any other project for a customer, friends, and sometimes even for his wife, Pat. John and Pat travelled extensively visiting such destinations as Italy, Rome, Germany and Switzerland. They had visited a great number of the Nationals Parks. They raised their 3 children with a strong work ethic, strong values, and strong devotion to their family and friends. John was the beloved husband of Patricia F. (King) Pineo. Loving father of Allison Pineo Negron of Worcester, Greg Pineo & his wife Laurine of North Reading and Christopher Pineo & Sharon Henderson of Hull. He was the proud grandfather of Rhea & Lucia Negron , Maxwell, Anya, Noah & Alissandra Pineo and Aster Henderson Pineo. He also leaves his 2 Amigos; Ernie Ringer and Billy Martin. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in John’s name may be made to St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington MA 01803.
