Obituary of Timothy Manning

Timothy F. Manning, a Marine Terminal Operator passed away on October 6th, after a brief and hard-fought illness. He was 60 years old. Tim was born in Boston, the son of the late Joseph and Franny Manning. He was the sixth of 9 children growing up in South Boston. He was a graduate of Boston High School and a proud member of the Teamsters Local 25 for over 36 years. He began his career as a truck driver and eventually transitioned to become a Marine Terminal Operator. He had worked at Global Petroleum in Revere for the past 20 years. He enjoyed his job, but more so the friendship and laughter he shared with his coworkers. Outside of work, Tim enjoyed leisurely drives, riding his motorcycle, and being a loyal Bruin’s fan right up to his last days. Tim’s life revolved around his family and friends. One of the nicest compliments of Tim was that his friends were “Friends for Life”. He maintained his childhood friendships while also adding many others along the way. Family gatherings were always a celebrated event for Tim. The first weekend in August was devoted to Manningpalooza, which involved camping in Plymouth. There was also the annual Manning Family Cape Adventure each October with his siblings, and countless other family celebrations and events. His family always came first. He was devoted to his wife Donna since they first met while he was driving her father, his coworker, home. They married in 1980 and shared 33 years together. He was a very proud father and was blessed to be a grandfather. Tim may be described in so many ways. “Loving and Kind”…he was always there for his family resolutely and unconditionally. “Patient”…it was not always easy being the only male in a house full of women. “Thoughtful and Giving”…his world revolved around his wife, daughters, and extended family. He enjoyed taking his daughters on camping trips, walks around Castle Island, or simply being there to support them. “Funny”…Tim had a funny way of creating his own words or phrases to describe something, they might be total off the wall, but everyone loved and understood Tim’s language. “Hardworking”…he wanted to be and was the best provider for his family. “Humble”…he didn’t need to be the center of attention; he just wanted to be a part of his family and circle of friends enjoying each other’s company and appreciating each other for their special qualities and gifts. Tim was truly an exceptional person. Tim was the loving husband of Donna (Shaw) Manning. He was the loving father of Colleen Manning & her husband Juan Figueroa of E. Boston and Kelly Manning of Woburn. He was the grandfather of Rachael & the late Timothy Juan Manning-Figueroa. He was the brother to Joseph of Quincy, Ann Marie “Sue” Sullivan of Plymouth, Martin of VA, Robert of Weymouth, James “Jay” of West Roxbury, Mary Evans of Holbrook, Judith Postell of Whitman & Stephen of Kingston. He was the son-in-law of Robert & Evelyn Shaw of Woburn. Tim is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9 A.M. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private.
