Obituary of Maria Bonfanti
Maria Bonfanti, retired employee of the Burlington DPW, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday morning, November 2, 2011. The beloved lifelong companion of the late Louis “Bud” McAllister who passed way on August 2, she was 85 years old.
Maria was born, raised and educated in Somerville. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Olga Bonfanti. After high school Maria’s family moved to Burlington where she lived for the remainder of her life. Maria worked as a Clerk in the DPW Office in Burlington until her retirement at the age of 75. Maria had a tremendous love of all animals. She was a collector of “Teddy Bears” which were displayed throughout her home. She enjoyed ceramics and collecting art and figurines. Maria and Bud had a home in Grafton, New Hampshire and loved to spend time there together. She was a huge Patriots fan and she and Bud had season tickets together for many years. Maria will be remembered as a loving and generous woman who was always giving and thinking of others.
Maria was the Beloved lifelong companion of the late Louis “Bud” McAllister. She was the loving friend of Joanne & Jim Pelham of North Reading, Rhonda & Jeff Rosenbaum of Burlington and Joanie & Eric Scholl of Woburn. Aunt of David McAllister of Stoneham and Kevin Kelly of NY and Terry Cochran & her husband Dave of Woburn. Maria is also survived by Helen McAllister of Woburn and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorials in Maria’s name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
