Obituary of Kevin McHugh

Kevin W. McHugh, a Vietnam Veteran and member of the Teamsters Local 82 passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Friday morning November 4, 2011 after a long illness. He was 61 years old. Kevin was born and raised in Winchester. He played Pop Warner Football and was the Varsity Goalie for Winchester High School. After high school he served in the Marines as a Lance Corporal in C Battery of the 1st Battalion during the Vietnam War. Kevin was extremely proud of being a Marine and his military service. Kevin was a member of the Teamsters, Local 82. He spent most of his working career at Casey & Hayes Moving Company. He had made his home in Burlington since 1976. Kevin was a fan of all Boston Sports teams especially the Bruins and Patriots. He shared his knowledge and passion for hockey as a coach for Burlington Youth Hockey, Metro Hockey, and as the Goalie Coach for Winchester High School. Kevin enjoyed watching his son play hockey from a young child in Burlington Mites to his time at Suffolk University. He cherished the time spent with family and friends. For 30 years, he enjoyed summering at White Horse Beach in Plymouth with his family, his parents, his brother’s family, aunts, uncles, & many cousins. This time was a special gift that united the McHugh family and provided them with a lifetime of lasting and wonderful memories. Kevin’s passing is difficult to accept, but he will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Kevin was the beloved husband of 35 years of Susan M. (Hart) McHugh. He was the loving father of Amy B. McHugh and Michael V. McHugh of Burlington. He was the son of James & Barbara (Flaherty) McHugh of Winchester. He was the brother of James McHugh, Jr. & his wife Carolyn of Billerica, uncle of James III, Kristin, & David, and brother-in-law of Brenda & Tony Fucillo of Belmont. He was the grandson of the late Thomas & Henrietta Flaherty and Louise & Charles McHugh. Nephew of Nancy and Robert Treacy. Also survived by many cousins. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, November 8 at 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours Monday from 6-8 p.m. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
