Obituary of William Stavros

William “Bill” Stavros, a man who cherished his family and friends and took great pride in his work passed away at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading after a long illness. He was only 61 years old. Bill was born in Cambridge the son of the late George and Marjory Stavros. He grew up and was educated in Brighton. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and Graham Junior College in Boston. He had spent 35 years working his way up the ladder at Hanson Engineering in Danvers. The aerospace company, manufactured jet engine components. His last position was that of inspector in their quality control department. He took great pride in his work and would often look up as a plane flew by and say “I helped to make that plane”. Music and food were a big part of Bill’s life. He loved all sorts of music and had a wonderful voice. He wasn’t bashful either. He and his daughter made a great “car duet” singing to the tunes on the radio as they drove. He and his friends loved going to Karaoke nights. His sister-in-law Darlene and his renditions of “America Pie” and “Listen” were always a big hit for all the patrons. He also enjoyed playing his guitar. Bill was a great cook and handled much of the cooking at his home and on vacation with friends. He loved being in the kitchen or at the barbecue cooking up great dishes for his family, friends, and guests. Bill had a great attachment to Lake Winnipesaukee that started as a youth. His family vacationed in Meredith when he was a kid and he would later buy a vacation property in Gilford. He loved being on the lake, whether it was long boat rides, watersports with the kids, or finding a quiet spot to spend the day fishing. Over the years, there have been many winter vacations to warm destinations in Florida, the Dominican Republic, and other Caribbean destinations. Bill was also a huge Patriots and Red Sox fan. Bill’s passing is difficult to accept, but he has left his family and friends with countless memories filled with love and laughter. Bill was the loving husband of 33 years of Roberta “Bobbi” (Turco) Stavros. He was the loving father of Tiffany Foley & her husband Mike and grandfather of Trinity. He was the son of the late Marjory & George Stavros and brother of Chris & his wife Suzanne of Raynham, Jerry & his wife Janice of FL and Kevin & his wife Valerie of GA. He was the son-in-law of Sal Turco of Woburn & the late Helen Turco, and brother-in-law of Darlene Turco & her fiancé John Harvey, Rosemarie & William Soncrant, Anne Stavros, Torrey Turco, Craig Brown and Butch Vaudo. He was the uncle of Destinee Buchoon, Kim, Samantha, Victoria, Tyler & Noah Garbino, Ariana & Torrey Turco, Scott Brown, Tommy Vaudo and Nicholas & Jason Stavros. Bill was the dear friend of George Davis. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Sunday, Dec. 29 from 1-3:30 p.m. and will conclude with funeral services at 3:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
