Dorothy C. (Hanlon) Griffin, a resident of Burlington for over 47 years, passed away in York Maine on Sunday morning, December 3, 2006. The wife of the late John F. Griffin, she was 72 years old. Mrs. Griffin was born, raised and educated in the “Kerry Corner” section of Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Hanlon. She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 30 years as an Adjudicator in the unemployment office. She retired in 2003. As a child she summered in York Beach Maine and continued to summer at York Beach with her children and her children’s families. She also enjoyed reading. Mrs. Griffin was a loving and caring woman whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her two children and their families. Mrs. Griffin is the beloved wife of the late John F. She is the loving mother of Elizabeth “Beth” & her husband Patrick Murphy of York, ME and John Griffin, Jr. & his wife Claire of Concord. She is sister of Edward Hanlon of NY, Donald Hanlon of CO, and the late Frances Bonner, Agnes and Robert Hanlon. She is the grandmother of Derek and Mairead Murphy and John C. Hannah and Thomas Griffin. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday Dec. 6 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
