Obituary of Hazel Kearns
Hazel R. (Hatfield) Kearns, passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford after a brief illness on Monday, January 6, 2014. The beloved wife of the late William, she was 85 years old.
Hazel was born, raised and educated in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Gideon and Bessie Hatfield. Hazel and Bill settled in Woburn in 1954 where they raised their four children. Hazel worked part-time through the years at the Fabric Place in the Woburn Mall and Almy’s in Burlington but her primary role in life was that of wife and mother. Hazel enjoyed reading, sewing and puzzles. Hazel and Bill had traveled extensively visiting such places as Germany, Canada, Mexico and various destinations in the United States. . Both Hazel and Bill were a very important part of their grandchildren’s lives growing up and had a very special relationship with them.
Hazel was the beloved wife of the late William R. Kearns. She was the loving mother of Barbara Rae of Woburn & her companion Robert Collins, Staff Sgt. David Kearns & his wife Diana U. S. Army Goose Creek, SC, Susan Ryan & her husband Kevin of FL and the late Robert. Sister of the late Idella, David, Gordon and Edward Hatfield. Mother-in-law of the late Donald Rae. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 p.m. Burial will be private.
