Obituary of Lillian Lynch

Lillian E. Lynch, a longtime resident of Cambridge passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 at the age of 93. Liilian was born in Cambridge, the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Thomas and Agnes Donahue. She grew up in the Innman Square section of Cambridge and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Lillian was always a mother first but also worked to help provide her family. Over the years she had worked as a clerk at Ellard Insurance in Cambridge, as a secretary at the Massachusetts State House when Governor Endicott Peabody was in office, Widener Library at Harvard University, a clerk at Filenes in Cambridge and Belmont, and a receptionist/clerk at the Sheraton Commander Hotel. Lillian was an outgoing and fun loving woman who loved being out and on the go. She had always had a number of circles of friends over the years. She was a member of a Navy’s Mother’s Club and a knitting club. She had girlfriends whom she played cards with on a regular basis. All of her careers involved interaction with people. The perfect day for Lillian was shopping and lunch with family or friends. She loved the beach and bringing her children to Nantasket Beach and Long Beach in Gloucester during the summer months. She spent 20 years living in Barefoot Bay, Florida. She loved animals, especially dogs. Lillian was very proud of her Irish heritage, and returned to Ireland to meet her cousins who lived in the town of Boston in County Claire, Ireland. Lillian had a long and well lived life filled with family, friends, laughter, love, and wonderful memories. Lillian was the loving wife of the late John H. Lynch and the late Paul R. Blanchard. She was the loving mother of James & his wife Madalyn of Napersville, IL, John & his wife Susanne of Burlington, Patricia Morrissey & her husband James of Cambridge and Catherine Levins of Medford & her husband the late Richard of Medford. Lillian was also survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Thursday Jan 23 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Church, 100 Concord Ave., Cambridge on Friday. Jan 24 at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington.
