Obituary of Richard Stewart
Richard A. Stewart, an actor and director, passed away from the effects of Muscular Dystrophy on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. He was 64 years old.
Richard was born in Boston and spent his childhood years living in Brookline. His family moved to Woburn in 1965 and he graduated from Woburn High School in 1968. Richard, despite the many obstacles in his life, always had a positive and uplifting attitude. His glass was always half full. His first love was music. He studied the classical guitar at Westfield State. A hand injury only weeks before his graduating music practical examine would end his ability to completely play the instrument he loved so much. So as one door closed another opened for Richard, Theater. He delved into the world of Community Theater and finding a home with the Burlington Players, theater group. He acted, helped with production, and directed over 30 plays. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his theatrical works. Some of his awards included outstanding achievement for directing, set design, stage management, sound design and operation.
Richard had worked as Wells Machine Company as a machinist until his illness prevented him from working. He will be remembered by his family and friends as one of the most optimistic, happy and inspiring people they will ever know. Richard was the loving son of Norma Studley of Woburn and the late Arthur Studley. He was the brother of Arthur “Chip” Studley, Jr. & his wife Dawn of Wimauma, FL and Joan Federico of Tewksbury. Richard was the uncle of Chip Studley, Michael, Anthony & Nicholas Federico, and Crystal and Michael Harris. He was the Great uncle of Emerson & Kaylan Studley, Ciara, Rylan, Skylar, and Nolan Harris. Longtime Companion of Chrissy Lewis of Burlington.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Sunday March 16 from 4-6 p.m. At Richard’s request, following the visiting hours there will be a Celebration of his Life at the American Legion, 162 Winn Street, Burlington.
