Mary Leah Martell (McCleary) leaves a legacy of family. Mary spent her final days lovingly cared for by her family and in the end passed away on Thursday morning, December 7, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. The wife of the late Howard Martell ,who passed away in 2003, she was 85 years old. Mary was born in Somerville. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary McCleary. She was raised and educated in Somerville. She continued to reside in Somerville until moving to Woburn 23 years ago. Mary devoted her life to making a home for her family. She worked for a period of time in the maternity ward at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. Mary enjoyed traveling and had taken trips with her late husband Howard. They visited all 50 States. They also went on numerous cruises. She enjoyed working with arts and crafts. Mary liked to watch cooking shows and game shows on television. She was also an ardent Red Sox Fan. Mary’s family was most important to her. Mary was blessed to have a marriage of 62 years to her late husband Howard and a wonderful life that spanned 85 years with many special times spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild. Her home was filled with family photos, laughter, and wonderful memories of family gatherings, cook outs, and other special events. She will be lovingly missed by all. Mary is the beloved wife of the late Howard M. Martell. She is the loving mother of Howard, Jr. of Woburn, M. Diane Ciampa of Stoneham, Grace Madden of Malden, Elaine Fowler of Derry, NH, Brian of Derry, NH, Timmy of N. Andover, and the late Raymond. Sister of James McCleary of Medford. Loving grandmother of Tommy, Brenda, Doug, Sherry, Vicky, Michelle, Danielle, Denise, Renee, Greg, Dan, Jared, Kaleigh, Kelly, Jeff, Matt, Vicky, and Christopher. Great grandmother of of Eddie, Dougie, Justin, Skyla, Amanda, Thomas, Samantha, Nicholas, Jennifer, Ryan, Kyle, Maya, and Braden. Great great grandmother of Justin. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 100 Washington St., Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
