Obituary of Winifred DePaz

Winifred L. (Crowell) DePaz passed away at her home in Greenville, New Hampshire on Thursday, December 7, 2006, she was 87 years old. Winnie was born in Billerica. She was the daughter of the late John and Ethel Crowell. She was raised and educated in Plymouth New Hampshire. During World War II she learned the skill of welding and worked on welding ships while the men where at War. Winnie was employed for a number of years at Sylvania in Burlington. She then went to work for Houghton Mifflin for ten years where she met her husband Arthur. Winnie and her husband retired together from Houghton Mifflin. Winnie enjoyed playing Bingo and taking occasional trips to Foxwoods with her many friends. She loved animals most especially dogs. Winnie was a people person. She always wanted to make sure that everyone was taken care of and comfortable. Winnie will be remembered as a sweet and caring woman whose life centered around her family. Winnie is the beloved wife of Arthur DePaz and the late Chester Holt. She is the loving mother of John Cockell of Pittsfield, NH and his companion Margaret Wetherbee, Chester Holt & his wife Gail of East Hampstead, NH, Patricia Lavoie & her husband Robert of Greenville, NH, Janet Cockell of CA, Phyllis Cockell of TN, Walter Cockell of TN and the late Louise Cockell. She is the sister of Richard Crowell of Somerville. Predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 1-4 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorial’s in Winnie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
