Obituary of Louis J. Calvino

Louis J. Calvino, a retired machinist passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday morning, April 4, 2014. He was 89 years old. Lou was born in Boston, the son of Italian immigrants, the late Gaetano and Lucy Calvino. He grew up and was educated in East Boston. After he married, he and his wife Tina moved to South Boston. He had worked for over 35 years as a machinist at Merriman Bros. in Hingham. He lived his life in a simple manner. He enjoyed walking, especially around Castle Island in South Boston. He loved being outside and the hotter the weather the better for him. He spent hours working in his garden and shared his harvest with family and friends. Lou enjoyed people, sharing stories, news, carpentry and speaking of his family. He had lived the past year and a half at Billerica Crossings and the previous 13 years in Burlington. He was a caring and supportive father to his son Robert. He was a very proud grandfather and was blessed to recently become a great grandfather. Lou was the loving husband of the late Catina “Tina” (Baglio) Calvino, who passed away in 1978. He was the loving father of Robert Calvino & his wife Denise of Burlington. He was the brother of Salvatore Calvino of Peabody, Nicholas Calvino of Marshfield, the late Josephine Bevere, Philip, Charles, James, and John Calvino. He was the proud grandfather of Jeffrey Calvino of Nashua, TJ Calvino of Burlington and great grandfather of Isabella Calvino. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, April 8 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Louis’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or www.cancer.org.
