Obituary of Peter Gottfredsen

Peter X. Gottfredsen, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The beloved husband of Wallis Mary “Wallie” Lane, he was 66 years old. Peter was born, raised and educated in Medford. He was the son of the late Peter and Mary Gottfredsen. After high school he attended Coin Electrical School in Boston. Peter had a successful career at Polaroid that spanned 41 years retiring in 2007. He worked as a Senior Electrical Engineer working in Norwood for 2 years and then the balance of his career in Waltham. Peter was one of the last employees at Polaroid sharing his knowledge with those involved in bring the company to a close. Not one to sit idle, within six months of his retirement from Polaroid, Peter went to work as a Technician at the MWRA where he was still working at the time of his death. Peter met his wife of Wallie while they were in High School. They moved to Burlington in 1983 where they raised their son. Peter and Wallie enjoyed talking bi-annual trips to Foxwoods. Next to his family Peter’s greatest passion was skiing. Peter was an avid skier and skied throughout the slopes of New England. Sunday’s were reserved for family time and Peter and his son Jeff would spend the day skiing together! Peter was very proud to see his son Jeff graduate from Boston University and begin his career as a Naval Officer. With Jeff stationed overseas Peter and Jeff communicated through e-mail with Jeff sharing his experiences with his Mom and Dad. Peter was the beloved husband of 45 years of Wallis Mary “Wallie” (Lane). He was proud father of Lt. Jeff Gottfresden, United States Navy, of Burlington. Brother of the late Mary Lou Gottfresden. Peter also leaves behind an extended family and many friends. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon concluding with Funeral Services at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorials in Peter’s name may be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018.
