Obituary of Kathleen Reid
Kathleen M. Reid, a woman dedicated to her family and faith, passed away at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, on Sunday morning, November 27, 2011. She was 81 years old.
Kathleen was born in Weymouth, the daughter of the late Charles and Kathleen Flannagan. She grew up in Arlington and was 1947 graduate of Arlington High School. She married Richard Reid in 1948 and they settled in Billerica and raised three children. When she was young, she was a very talented roller skater. She was a member of several bowling leagues. She also loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She enjoyed family vacations and trips. Her trip to England and Wales was her most memorable.
Kathleen had a strong Catholic faith and was very active in St. Mary’s Church. She attended daily mass, volunteered at the rectory, sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic minister, and visited the infirmed. Her other passion was her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was always willing to lend a hand to her family. She especially enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, where she was a vocal fan in the stands. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Reid. She was the loving mother of Christine Nichols & her husband William of Merrimack, NH, Janette Mazzone & her husband Jeffrey of Billerica, and Richard A. Reid & his fiancée, Arlene McKenney of Winchester. She was the proud grandmother of David Simmons & his wife Jennifer, Mallory & Melissa Mazzone, Julie & Jessica Nichols, and Matthew & Kevin Reid. She was the mother-in-law of Dawn Reid of Billerica.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Billerica, on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kathleen’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 796 Boston Rd, Billerica, MA 01821.
