Obituary of Beatrice Bradley

Beatrice C. “Bea” Bradley lived a wonderful life filled with many family and friends. She passed away after a very short illness on Wednesday morning, June 4, 2014 at the age of 91. Bea was born in Old Town, Maine, the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Martin. She spent her first seven years in Old Town and then her family moved to Somerville and then Medford, Massachusetts. Bea was a woman who was happy in whatever role she assumed. She was very happy as a home maker, providing her family with a warm and loving home. She also enjoyed her working career, which started during World War II when she worked as a Section Chief for the Office of the Pricing Administration. The functions of the OPA were originally to control money, rents, and monitor food and material rationings. She was well respected for her work with the IPO and even testified in New York and in Washington D.C. on the Ipo’s behalf. Over the years, she had worked as an Office Manager at Paint Company, the School of Social Work at Boston University, and retired from the McLean Hospital. Bea and her husband Brad were active around Burlington during their 26 years as homeowners. She was a longtime member of the Billerica Irish American Club and was very active in most the activities and socials at the club. She also volunteered with her husband Brad at the Lahey Clinic. She was a huge Red Sox fan. Bea enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, opera, and a competitive game of Canasta. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her girlfriends. Bea loved going on cruises with her sister Kay and her husband. She enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage in Plymouth. Bea had the innate ability to always look at the positive side and laugh at herself. Bea and Brad found their “second lease on life” when they moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody and shared a more relaxed lifestye there together until Brad passed away. The friends they made together at Brooksby were a great support for Bea during this transition and beyond. And people always knew where to find the most fun dinner group at Brooksby – just listen for the laughter and Bea was right in the middle of it. She leaves her family with countless wonderful memories filled with laughter and love. Bea was Beloved wife of the late Edward “Brad” Bradley. Loving mother of Toni Bradley and her husband Jeff Musser of Bedford and Michael Rizzo of Columbia, MD. Sister of the late Luella “Tiny” Casassa, Catherine “Kay” Storella, Bernard “Barney”, Lionel “Leo”, Eugene “Gene”, and Donald Martin. Proud grandmother of Tom Musser and his wife Cheryl of Chester, NH and Kelly Waldsmith and her husband Butch of Hudson, MA. Great grandmother of Christopher & Kyle Musser and PFC Bill Waldsmith, US Army stationed in Jordan. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at Noon. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
