Obituary of Daniel Victor Heartquist
Daniel Victor Heartquist, retired owner of Carlson Sales Corporation in Wilmington, passed away after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 72 years old.
Victor was born in Concord, New Hampshire, the son of Swedish immigrants, the late Daniel and Elsa Heartquist. He had fond memories of growing up in South Boston where he made many lifelong friendships. He was a graduate of Boston English High School. He then went onto to earn an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Northeastern University. He had owned and operated Carlson Sales Corporation in Wilmington for 30 years and had sold the business 8 years ago. His company was a machine tool distributorship servicing the New England area. He had made his home in Burlington for the past 46 years. Victor was an avid sports enthusiast and the life of the party. While most are fans, Victor was the competitor. His philosophy was why sit and watch a game, match, or race, when you can be playing it. He had a list of sports and activities that he enjoyed and shared with his family and many friends. He was a talented tennis player and one of those “Guys to Beat” at the Burlington Country Club and Weston Tennis Club. He was a passionate skier and had a group of friends who took yearly ski trips together. They traveled all over the world skiing different mountains, creating and sharing lasting memories together. His other interests included golf, bicycling, white water rafting, hiking, camping, and swimming. In his youth, he also competed in speed skating. He shared his passions with his children teaching them sports, self-reliance, a strong work ethic and the mindset that they could do anything. Victor loved to travel and was always planning his next adventure. He enjoyed many wonderful trips with his wife, Frances, to Hawaii, Alaska, China, Sweden, Germany, Thailand and many of the National Parks. He embraced life and made the most of every day. He was fun, passionate, and much loved by all his family and many friends.
Victor was the loving husband of Frances (Moran) Heartquist. He was the loving father of David & his wife Kelly of Coppell, TX, Laura Villarroel & her husband Armando of Reading, and Jessica Pupa & her husband Brian of Burlington. He was the brother of Barbro Selin of Sweden & her late husband Ingvar and the late Lillian Spongberg. He was the proud grandfather of Christopher, Andrew, Tommy & Amy Heartquist, Victor & Marcus Villarroel and Matthew, Joshua, Jonathan & Emily Pupa. He was the brother-in-law of Larry & Mary Moran of Grand Junction, CO, Carol & Steve Bykowski of Derry, NH, and Janet & William O’Driscoll of Hyde Park. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private.
