Obituary of Barbara Lundgren

Barbara G. Lundgren passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014 at the age of 85. Barbara was born and raised in Woburn. She was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Carolene Gray. Barbara was a graduate of Woburn High School. She married William Lundgren, Jr. and they settled in Burlington in 1953. Barbara was always a mother first and had 3 very active boys who always kept her busy. When her sons went off to school, she went to worked at Raytheon’s Missile Systems Division in Burlington and Bedford. She retired as an executive secretary after over 20 years with the company. Barbara and Bill made the most of their retirement years. They spent 20 years splitting their time between Big Island Pond in Derry, New Hampshire and Bradenton, FL. She returned home to Burlington for the past 7 years. Barbara was very active at the Burlington Council on Aging. She was an avid Bingo player and even was a “Bingo Caller”. She took part in many of the social events and participated in the knitting, painting and arts and crafts activities at the BCOA. She also enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and puzzles. She enjoyed family gatherings and the special times shared at her home on Big Island Pond. When she was young, she was quite the dancer. Barbara will be remembered for her quick wit, unconditional love, and devotion to her family. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late William Lundgren, Jr. She was the loving mother of W. Lawrence Lundgren & his wife Anita of IL, William Lundgren III & his wife Colleen of Burlington, and the late David Lundgren & his wife Debbi of Billerica. She was the sister of William “Skipper” Gray of Salem, NH, the late Robert Gray and Marion McMahon. She was the proud grandmother of Peter of OR, Andrew of OR, David, Jr. & his wife Aubrey of New Ipswich, NH, Kerri D’Antuono & her husband Paul of Billerica, Jamee Canandas & her husband Anthony of Billerica, William IV of Burlington, Kerrie Yost & her husband Timmy of Tewksbury. She was the great grandmother of Nicholas D’Antuono, Matthew, Haylee & AJ Canandas, Jonathan, Devin, Aiden, & Zachary Lundgren, and Maggie & Timmy Yost. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Friday, June 20 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Graveside Service at Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to American Liver Foundation 39 Broadway Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006 or www.liverfoundation.org
