Obituary of Victor Coombs
Victor R. Coombs, Jr. a resident of Burlington for 46 years passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 19, 2014. He was 75 years old.
Victor was born in Boston. He was raised and educated in Medford. He was the son of the late Victor Coombs and Charlotte DeVeer. Victor was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 – 1960. Victor and Connie settled in Burlington in 1968 where they raised their three daughters. Victor was a self-employed owner of Victor Coombs Construction. He was an avid sportsman. He was a professional bass fisherman, a competitive marksman and as well as a golfer. Victor and Connie enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas and Florida. He was very proud of his daughters and loved to spend time with his five grandchildren. Victor will be remembered for his sense of humor, his devotion to his wife, daughters and grandchildren.
Victor was the beloved husband of Concetta (Tauro). He was the loving father of Lisa Powers & her husband Fred of Tewksbury, Christa Coombs of Burlington and Leah Wareham & her husband William, III of Wilmington. Brother of Charlene Peirce of VT, Victor Coombs & his wife Barbara of Ohio, Cindylee Adkins of TN and the late John “Happy” Coombs. Proud grandfather of Aidan & Collin Powers and William IV, Samantha & Madison Wareham.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, June 23 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. concluding with Funeral Services and Military Honors at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers Memorials in Victor’s name may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481 www. drf.org
