Obituary of Elisabeth Valente

Elisabeth (Ublander) Valente, passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center on Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2014. The beloved wife of the late Louis J. Valente, she was 81 years old. Elisabeth was born, raised and educated in Heiligenthal Germany. She was one of seven children born to the late Karl and Johanna Ublander. Elisabeths love for fashion began in Germany and included the art of clothing window treatment displays along with being a shoe model for the latest styles. She then came to the United States in 1959 where she worked in the Accounting Department for Transitron Wakefield until meeting and marrying Louis in 1966 where they settled in Burlington to raise Tina their daughter. Upon Louis’s passing; Elisabeth continued to enjoy her love for fashion by being a talented Seamstress at Burlingtons Jordan Marsh for many years and in addition has made wedding dresses on five different occasions for special friends. Elisabeth was also a talented artist. She attended Art School with her husband and has a quite a collection of oil paintings depicting scenic landscapes. She went on to continue her retirement years by the ocean in 2009 residing in Kennebunk, Maine. She had a strong Catholic faith, believed in praying the Rosary daily, and was a longtime member of St. Margaret’s Burlington Choir. She was very proud of her daughter Tina and had a very special relationship with her. Elisabeth was the loving wife of the late Louis J. Valente. She was the loving mother of Tina Valente-Hart & her husband Douglas A. Hart of Saugus. She was the sister of Johanna Cerone of Kennebunkport, ME and the late Maria Leber, Edith, Rita, Karl and Ernst Ublander. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 26 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 12 Noon. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
