Obituary of Esther Vitale

Esther M. Vitale, a woman devoted to her family passed away at the Wingate of Reading nursing facility on Saturday afternoon, August 9, 2014. She was 93 years old. She was born in Somerville, the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late John and Agnes Nunziato. She was one of 12 children. She grew up and was educated in Somerville. With such a large family, her home was always filled with excitement, laughter, love, and whole lot of cooperation. She married Henry Vitale and they settled in Burlington over 50 years ago to raise their daughters. Henry was the provider in the family, co-owning Wilton’s Furniture in Wilmington, where he worked long hours as the manager and salesman. At home, Esther was in charge. She loving cared for her children and husband and ran the house. Her daughters were her special gifts and Esther always made sure she was there to watch over and care for them. She loved simple things like music, dancing, and spending a day at the beach. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others smile. Esther was the loving wife of the late Henry C. Vitale who passed on in 2002. She was the loving mother of Gloria Vitale of Haverhill and Carolyn Vitale of Burlington. She was the proud grandmother of Nicole Hollis-Vitale of Somerville and Chandra Cloutier of Andover and great grandmother of Jax & Scarlett Cloutier. She was the sister of Robert & Louis Nunziato both of Reading, Edith Coniglio of NJ, the late Lucy Manuel, Lillian Salem, Louise Shannon, John, Anthony, Frank, Vincent, and Mary Nunziato. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Thursday, August 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at Noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private.
