Obituary of Lewis Richard Dubbs

Lewis Richard “Louie” Dubbs, passed away at his home on Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2014. The beloved husband of 66 years of Florence “Flo” (Campbell) he was 86 years old. Louie was born in Baltimore Maryland. He was raised and educated in Bainbridge, PA. Louie enlisted in the Army at the age of 16 serving his country during World War II. Louie and Flo moved to Somerville in 1951 and then settled in Burlington in 1963 where they would raise their 3 children and make many friendships. Louie worked for 17 years in the Maintenance Department of B. F. Goodrich in Watertown. He then went to work for the Highway Department in Burlington for over 20 years retiring as a Lead Foreman. Louie loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping at Country Shore Camp Grounds in Kingston NH. In the winter months Louie would snow mobile at the campground. During the Spring and Summer there was always fishing at Plum Island. Louie was a “backyard mechanic” and liked to work on cars. Louie and Flo enjoyed traveling. They had taken their grandsons on two trips to Disney. They also enjoyed cruising and had taken over 20 cruises on Princess Cruise Lines. Louie never forgot his family roots from Bainbridge PA. He kept in close touch with his family in Bainbridge and his children had taken a number of trips to visit family. Louie will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was to be blessed with the birth of his fifth great grandchild in September. Louie was the beloved husband of 66 years of Florence “Flo” (Campbell). He was the loving father of Louise Ganley & her husband Ron of Hooksett, NH formerly of Burlington, Richard & his wife Karen of Billerica and Donald of Lee, NH. Brother of Walter Carter, Dolores McKenzie and James Carter all of PA. Proud grandfather of Ron Ganley, Jr., Bruce Ganley, Christina Ferrelli, Kathleen Straffin, Kevin Dubbs & Laura Dubbs. Great Grandfather of Eric, Sara, James and Jack. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Louie’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
