Obituary of Henry Gibson

Henry William Clarke (Hank) Gibson, a retired Operations Manager at AT&T passed away peacefully at his home on Friday morning, August 29, 2014, with his wife of 53 years, Sheila, at his bedside. He was 81 years old. Hank was born in Revere, the son of the late Alonza and Thelma (Clark) Gibson. He grew up in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. He served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War as an Airman First Class. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his service, Hank made a career at AT&T spanning four decades. He was well-respected among his colleagues, was often called upon for complex projects, and enjoyed the many challenges his career presented him. Outside of work Hank was an avid candlepin bowler and enjoyed playing men’s hockey. Upon retirement, Hank and Sheila traveled extensively over their 25-year retirement, including Hawaii, Las Vegas, Aruba, and San Francisco, and the 1996 Summer Olympics. Hank was a proud and devoted father to his three children. He was an avid supporter of all his children’s academic, artistic, and athletic interests, which included baseball, softball, track and field, ice hockey, figure skating, football, music, and various scholastic honor societies. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball and was an active member of the Burlington High School Booster Club. He was an extremely proud grandfather to each of his four grandchildren and has been present at hundreds of soccer and basketball games, baton competitions, and other school events. Hank considered himself a lucky and blessed man to have his family close and to have shared in their growth, life challenges, and achievements. Hank was the loving Beloved husband of 53 years of Sheila C. (Dauphinee) Gibson of Burlington. He was the loving father of Wendy Gibson-Foster and her husband Tyler of Attleboro, David of Chelsea, and Stephen of Newton, NH. He was predeceased by his siblings: Margie Ingram, Frank, Earl, and Kenneth Gibson. Proud grandfather of Tyler Clarke & Jordan Brooke Foster and Diana & Victoria Gibson.
