Obituary of Miriam Bergquist

Miriam G. (Gabrielson) Bergquist, a resident of Woburn for 68 years, passed away at the Sunrise Assisted Living on Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014. The beloved wife of 66 years of the late Harold W. Bergquist, who passed away in March of 2013, she was 92 years old. Miriam was born in Dalsbruk Finland. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Maria Gabrielson. Miriam’s family moved to the United States when she was 3 years old and the family settled in Upton where she was raised and educated. She was a graduate of Upton High School and then went on to attend The Wilson School in Boston to become an X-Ray Technician. She worked for a number of years at Choate Hospital in Woburn. Miriam devoted her life to her husband and her 4 sons. She had a strong faith and was an active member of the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington for many years. She enjoyed knitting and quilting. You were considered a special person if you received one of her quilted blankets. Miriam also had a knack for repairing, re-upholstering and restoring old pieces of furniture. Miriam and Harold traveled occasionally to visit her sisters but for the most part their life centered around their home and family. Miriam was blessed to live a life that spanned 92 years Miriam was the Beloved wife of the late Harold W. She was the loving mother of David & his wife Elaine of Idaho, Joel & his wife Roberta of NH, Peter & his wife Kathleen of Burlington and the late Paul. Mother-in-law of Lori Bergquist-Darling of Royalston. Predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters. Grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 3. A Memorial Service will be held at Genesis, 35 Olympia Ave., Woburn on Monday, Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorials in Miriam’s name may be made to the Open Bible Academy, C/O church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803. Arrangements under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, BURLINGTON.
