Obituary of David Carey

David E. Carey, 71, a devoted family man passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Annmarie (Skelley) for over 50 years. David was born in Memphis, TN to the late Mary and George E. Carey, and at a young age moved with his family to Belmont, MA where he was raised with his three siblings (Judy, James, and George III). After graduating from Belmont High School, David went on to attend Boston College and then married his high school sweetheart (Annmarie) in 1964. David and Annmarie moved to Westbrook, Maine and then onto Burlington, MA in 1973 where they stayed for the next 33 years and raised their three sons (Bob, Tom, and Dan). David’s family was the center, and most important part of his life, and he always gave unselfishly of himself to ensure their happiness. David enjoyed golf and the beach, but nothing gave him more joy than spending precious time with his four grandchildren (Justin, Conor, Emma, and Dillon). He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. David was the Beloved husband of 50 years to Annmarie (Skelley). Loving father of Robert & his wife Stacey of Sturbridge, Thomas & his significant other Cara Lyons of Lincoln and Daniel & his wife Marin of Burlington. Brother of Judy Friar of Westport, James of Ipswich and George III of Roslindale. Proud grandfather of Conor, Justin, Emma & Dillon. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in David’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
