Brenda A (Brogna) Sweeny, a woman who believed in giving of oneself for others, passed away after a short illness on Sunday night, October 19, 2014. She was 76 years old.
Brenda was born in Woburn, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Agnes Brogna. She grew up in Burlington in a home that was filled with an extended bounty of love. She was a member of the Burlington High School Class of 1956 which she has remained in regular contact with her former classmates. She was also a 1959 graduate of Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Lowell. She worked for Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley for 18 years and was one of the first RN’s to be employed by the agency. Brenda was such a proponent of Elder Services mission that she continued to work on special projects as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Brenda was happiest when joined with all of her family and friends for gatherings. Her home on Cape Cod was her favorite place to be and her ability to host get-togethers or special events surpassed all others. Her spirit will live on and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
